Prof Lim is the former Auditor-General of Singapore. He has served over 37 years in public service first in the Engineering Service and then the Administrative Service culminating in his appointment as Auditor-General in 2007 by the President of Singapore.

During his public service, Prof Lim also served on the boards of a number of statutory boards and government-owned companies, including Nanyang Polytechnic, Woodbridge Hospital, Tan Tock Seng Hospital and The Esplanade.  Following his retirement from public service, Prof Lim joined the Singapore Management University as a Professor of Accounting (Practice).   He is currently also a member of the Board of Governors of an international school.
